Our client has developed a broadly neutralizing human monoclonal antibody (mAB) that has the capacity to kill 98% of the HIV isolates around the world. The antibody has the capacity to:

Unmet Needs and Business Opportunity

HIV /AIDS pandemic presents some sobering statistics:

The human tragedy continues unchecked internationally.

Despite significant medical advances, including the use of additional anti-retroviral drugs and fast-tracked Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approval of protease inhibitors, the number HIV/AIDS cases continues to advance unrestrained, regardless of cultures, geography, and borders without boundaries. The continued increase in multi-drug cross-resistant HIV viral strains, which spawn pathogenic “super-viruses”, highlights the fact that current and new drug therapies against HIV/AIDS are not an effective long term medical solution. Although these chemotherapeutics have extended lives, they are not able to prevent viral infectivity from person-to-person and have done little to slow the advance of HIV/AIDS globally.

The Technology

Clone 3 mAB from this company targets epitope amino acid sequence (KLIC) which is identical in 80% of known HIV clinical isolates, and is homologously conserved in another 18% of clinical isolates. These data suggest that this Clone 3 mAB can neutralize 98% of HIV types worldwide. It neutralizes HIV viral subtypes prevalent in Africa , China , India , Southeast Asia , Middle East , North America , South America , Australia , and Western and Eastern Europe . Regardless of geographical location, HIV-seropositive individuals who are classified as long-term non-progressors (LTNPs) produce neutralizing anti-gp41 HIV antibodies (i.e., Clone 3 mABs), that bind to the linear amino acid peptide KLIC.

Due to the fact that Clone 3 is a human antibody, it can therefore provide a non-toxic therapy with minimal - if any- side effects. Currently, there are 1764 primary clinical HIV isolates globally identified and recorded in the U.S. Government’s Los Alamos National Laboratory HIV database. As the Clone 3 Antibody binds to a highly (98%) conserved region (amino acid sequence) on the surface of the virus, which is immutable across geographical boundaries around the world, Clone 3 can be a broadly effective therapeutic agent.

The company's Clone 3 Antibody can be used in a non-toxic passive immunotherapy to effectively treat the estimated 33 million HIV-infected individuals worldwide, resulting in a long-term remission and consequently eliminating the need to chronically administer highly toxic anti-retroviral [ARV] chemotherapeutic drugs. Chemotherapeutic drugs can be successfully administered for only a limited period of time because of high HIV mutation rate of the virus which diminishes ARV effectiveness against drug-induced resistant target sites, and also brecuase of known ARV drug toxicities.

Clone 3 anti-HIV/AIDS immunotherapeutics are therefore a superior alternative to chemotherapeutic anti-retroviral drugs, which are known to be highly toxic to patients and are responsible for spawning fatal drug-resistant forms of HIV internationally.

The company's proprietary process of immortalizing human B-cells and stabilizing monoclonal antibody [mAB] production has developed the technology platform to generate fully human monoclonal antibodies for a number of diseases. It has produced antibodies for:
